North
Bengal Dental College & Hospital is one of the three Govt. Dental Colleges
in West Bengal. It is situated at Shusrutanagar near Siliguri in the District
of Darjeeling. Lying at the foothill of Himalayas and by the side of Teesta and
Mahananda this college offers a scenic beauty all around. This college is
recognized by Dental Council of India and is under the West Bengal University
of Health Sciences.

Bengal Dental College was established in the year 1990 with the prime Objective
of providing effective and efficient education as well as oral health care to
the people of north Bengal. This college was started in the North Bengal
Medical college campus with the intake capacity of 20 seats. The College was
under the University of North Bengal untill formation of The West Bengal
University Of Health Sciences which was established in 2003.First principal was
Dr. Bimal Ch. Bera.
In
present day the small sprout has grown up to become a big tree with the intake
capacity increased up to 50 seats per year. Since 2013 the college building was
shifted to beautifully decorated new building by Honorable chief minister
Mamata Banerjee. The current principal of this institute is Dr. Soumen
Chakraborty. This institution offers undergraduate courses and applied for the
post-graduation course. In coming years the MDS courses will probably be
started.
This
dental college aims to train dental aspirants as well qualified and skilled
dentists by providing quality education to them. In order to fulfil their aim
the dental institution has equipped itself with all modern amenities.
