From
its inception as a small Department of Dentistry at the Calicut Medical College
in 1969, the mission of the Govt. Dental College, Kozhikode has been to impart
and improve the oral health care of the population. It later expanded as a
Dental wing with four specialties in 1979 and was upgraded as a full-fledged
Kozhikode GDC in 1981 with an intake of 30 students to the BDS course that
started in 1982. Later this was enhanced to 40 students in 1996 and to 50
students in 2009. Our training programs are focused on the provision of quality
educational experiences to train clinically competent dentists and develop
advocates and dental leaders to address the oral health issues of the
community. We achieve this through service, training, teaching and research.
